Patek Philippe is known for making some of the most beautiful and long-lasting watches in the world. Whether you are buying one for yourself or for a special woman in your life, there are a few important factors to consider before purchasing a lady’s watch. Use this guide to choose a watch that fits her in every way:
The band of the watch largely determines whether the timepiece is formal or casual. Basing at least part of your decision on the band will help you choose one that really complements a woman’s lifestyle. If she is more active, look for a stylish yet casual band like the Aquanaut Ocean in Blue or Khaki. If she likes to dress up, though, choose something more elegant like the Calatrava in white or yellow gold. When a watch works with her wardrobe, she will be more likely to wear it on a regular basis.
The size of a watch should be proportionate to the size of her wrist. If she has small, delicate wrists, a large, chunky watch could look disproportionate and overpowering. Try on a few different sizes to get a better judgment of which size really works with the wrist to create a stunning aesthetic effect.
From rose gold to rich leather, Patek Philippe watches come in a wide range of colors to please every personality. Browse through the selection until you find one in the perfect color to emphasize her unique personality.
Morgan & Company Jewellers is an authorized Patek Philippe dealer and service center, which means we have one of the best selections of watches in Los Angeles. Come in today to start the search for the perfect watch. We also have an amazing array of estate jewelry, diamond engagement rings, and antique jewelry to meet all of your needs. There have been several variations of the story of how Valentine’s Day came to be known and celebrated:
The day is honoring 3 martyred Saints that were named Valentine and that were sentenced to be executed because of their belief in Christianity. There were no ties to romance but there was true love and devotion for their faith.
Another version of the story tells that St. Valentine (Roman) refused the law forbidding young men to be allowed to get married. The prevention of marriage would make them better soldiers for Roman Emperor Claudius II. Valentine continued to marry couples going against the law and was later sentenced to death.
An additional embellishment on the legend is that Valentine fell in love with the jailer’s daughter and on the evening before his execution he wrote her the first Valentine card addressing her as his beloved, signing it “From your Valentine” (no historical basis found). St. Valentine died on February 14th269 A.D.
In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14th to honor St. Valentine.
The first association with love for Valentine’s Day was through a poem written by Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages (1100 to 1300 A.D.). The name of the poem was “The Parliament of the Fowls” which may not have been written for Valentine’s Day but spoke of love in the springtime. The Poem tells a story about birds; how they assemble to choose their mates. The leading female bird has to choose from 3 suitors and at the end of the poem ultimately decides the romantic outcome.
Valentine’s Day has evolved into a day to celebrate love and can be traced back to Roman rituals and customs of Victorian England. You could not have a Valentine’s Day without Cupid (a Roman God who symbolizes passionate love; the son of Venus the Goddess of Love).
A modern day holiday that can be the official day to show someone “Unconditional Love”. Let that special someone know whether it be your spouse, best friend or favorite relative that you truly love and appreciate having them in your life. The gift can be jewelry that can be worn and passed down to the next generation, take someone out on a picnic or to a great dinner. And if you have a handful of special loved ones (a member of a big family) a card or a phone call is great just to let someone know that you care.
To make a custom-made piece of jewelry or for a unique antique piece that is rare to find, we can help you at Morgan & Company Jewellers. We specialize in Fine Gemstones, Diamonds and are an authorized dealer for Patek Philippe watches.
